Silent night lyrics
Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight,
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing alleluia;
Christ the Savior, is born!
Christ the Savior, is born!
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight,
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing alleluia;
Christ the Savior, is born!
Christ the Savior, is born!
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

Hush, little baby
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRXCI_Kxmiw
Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird.
if that mockingbird won't sing,
Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring.
and if that diamond ring turns brass,
Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass.
and if that looking glass gets broke,
Papa's gonna buy you a billy goat.
and if that billy goat won’t pull,
Papa's gonna buy you a cart and bull.
and if that cart and bull turn over,
Papa's gonna buy you a dog named Rover.
and if that dog named Rover won't bark.
Papa's gonna buy you a horse and cart.
and if that horse and cart fall down,
you'll still be the sweetest little baby in town.
Hush, little baby don’t say a word,
Mama’s gonna buy you a mockingbird
If that mockingbird won’t sing
Mama’s gonna buy a diamond ring
Hush, little baby don’t say a word,
Mama loves you and so do I.
-------------Little Jack Horner-------------
Little Jack Horner sat in a corner,
Eating a Christmas pie;
He put in his thumb and pulled out a plum,
And said, "What a good boy am I!"

Lullaby and good night
(Cradle song/cradlesong)
Music by Johannes Brahms
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t894eGoymio
Lullaby and good night
In the sky stars are bright
'Round your head
Flowers gay
Set your slumbers till day
Lullaby and good night
In the sky stars are bright
'Round your head
Flowers gay
Set your slumbers till day
Close your eyes
Now and rest
May these hours
Be blessed
Close your eyes
Now and rest
May these hours
Be blessed
Lullaby and good night
In the sky stars are bright
'Round your head
Flowers gay
Set your slumbers till day

Novermber 15, Sunday
Dear my students,
We are to learn some poems and rhymes on Novermber 15, Sunday.
Here are the lyrics:
A child’s garden of verses
By
Robert Louis Stevenson
Bed in Summer
In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.
I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people's feet
Still going past me in the street.
And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?
The Wind
I saw you toss the kites on high
And blow the birds about the sky;
And all around I heard you pass,
Like ladies' skirts across the grass--
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!
I saw the different things you did,
But always you yourself you hid.
I felt you push, I heard you call,
I could not see yourself at all--
Oh wind, a-blowing all day long,
Oh wind, that sings so loud a song!
Oh you that are so strong and cold,
Oh blower, are you young or old?
Are you a beast of field and tree,
Or just a stronger child than me?
Oh wind, a-blowing all day long,
Oh wind, that sings so loud a song!
A Thought
It is very nice to think
The world is full of meat and drink,
With little children saying grace
In every Christian kind of place.
Good and Bad Children
Children, you are very little,
And your bones are very brittle;
If you would grow great and stately,
You must try to walk sedately.
You must still be bright and quiet,
And content with simple diet;
And remain, through all bewild'ring,
Innocent and honest children.
Happy hearts and happy faces,
Happy play in grassy places--
That was how in ancient ages,
Children grew to kings and sages.
But the unkind and the unruly,
And the sort who eat unduly,
They must never hope for glory--
Theirs is quite a different story!
Cruel children, crying babies,
All grow up as geese and gabies,
Hated, as their age increases,
By their nephews and their nieces.

Mid-term Exam (期中考) 11月1日Sunday
Dear students,
For your mid-term exam, all you have to do is to pick up an English children song from those that we have learned in the past 6 weeks and perform it to us. You are encouraged to be as creative as possible for your mid-term performance.
(Please try to sing the song by heart; that is, please don't read the lyrics when you sing.)
Regards,
John

Lyrics for week 7
Week 7 lyrics
http://www.mamalisa.com/?t=ec&p=982&c=151
1. Two tigers
兩隻老虎
兩隻老虎
跑得快
一隻沒有眼睛
一隻沒有嘴巴
真奇怪
真奇怪
Two tigers
Two tigers
Run so fast
Run so fast
One has no eyes;
One has no mouth
So strange
So strange
2. Trishaw
三輪車
跑得快
上面做個老太太
要五毛
給一塊
你說奇怪不奇怪
A trishaw
Is running fast
And it’s carrying an old lady
Driver wants 5 cents
She pays 1 dollar
Isn’t it strange?
(Do you think it’s strange or not?)
3. I have a small donkey
我有一隻小毛驢
我從來也不騎
有一天我心血來潮騎著去趕集
我手裡拿著小皮鞭
我心裡真得意
不知怎麼嘩啦啦啦
我摔了一身泥
I have a small donkey,
Which I never ride.
One day I feel like riding it,
So I ride it to a fair.
I have a small whip in hand,
And I’m enjoying the ride.
Then I don’t know what happened,
I fell off it and got (very) muddy.

Schedule for Week 6 (第六週的課程)
Here is a song shared by someone. It is indeed an interesting song. I think we can all learn a bit from this song, so I plan to show it to you this coming Sunday (10/18). Here's the link.
有同學分享了一首很有趣的歌. 我們這個星期日 (10/18) 可以來學。連結在這兒:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfyyGQxZrAY
The following is the lyrics: 以下是歌詞
Get up now, get up now, get up out of bed
Wash your face, brush your teeth
Comb your sleepy head
Here’s your clothes and your shoes
Hear the words I said
Get up NOW, get up and make your bed.
Are you hot? Are you cold?
Are you wearing that?
Where’s your books and your lunch and your homework at?
Grab your coat and your gloves and your scarf and hat
Don’t forget you gotta feed the cat.
Eat your breakfast. The experts tell us it’s the most important meal of all
Take your vitamins so you will grow up one day to be big and tall
Please remember the orthodontist will be seeing you at 3 today
Don’t forget your piano lesson is this afternoon
So you must play
Don’t shovel, chew slowly, but hurry
The bus is here
Be careful, come back here!
Did you wash behind your ears?
Play outside, don’t be rough
Would you just play fair?
Be polite, make a friend; don’t forget to share
Work it out, wait your turn, never take a dare
Get along. Don’t make me come down there.
Clean your room, fold your clothes, put your stuff away
Make your bed. Do it now.
Do we have all day?
Were you born in a barn?
Would you like some hay?
Can you even hear a word I say?
Answer the phone.
Get off the phone.
Don’t sit so close.
Turn it down.
No texting at the table
No more computer time tonight.
Your iPOD’s my iPOD If you don’t listen up.
Where are you going? And with whom?
And what time do you think you’re coming home?
Saying thank you, please, excuse me makes you welcome everywhere you roam.
You’ll appreciate my wisdom someday when you’re older and you’re grown
Can’t wait till you have a couple little children of your own
You’ll thank me for the counsel I gave you so willingly
But right now I’ll thank you not to roll your eyes at me
Close your mouth when you chew. We’d appreciate
Take a bite, maybe two, of the stuff you hate
Use your fork, do not burp, or I’ll set you straight
Eat the food I put upon your plate
Get an A, get the door, don’t get smart with me.
Get a grip, get in here, I’ll count to 3.
Get a job, get a life, get a PhD, get a dose of…
I don’t care who started it.
You’re grounded until you’re 36
Get your story straight
And tell the truth for once for heaven’s sake
And if all your friends jumped off a cliff, would you jump too?
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it at least a thousand times before
That you’re too old to act this way
It must be your father’s DNA
Look at me when I am talking
Stand up straighter when you walk
A place for everything, and everything must be in place
Stop crying, or I’ll give you something real to cry about
Wash your face, brush your teeth, get your PJ’S on
Get in bed, give a hug, say a prayer with Mom
Don’t forget I love you.
And tomorrow we will do this all again because Mom’s work never ends.
You don’t need the reason why because, because, because, because
I said so, I said so, I said so, I said so
I’m the mom, the mom, the mom, the mom, Ta-Da.

Songs for Week 4 第四週所學的歌
以下歌曲的音樂都可在下列這個網站下載
http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=6972984511504128018
Lazy Mary, will you get up?
Lazy Mary, will you get up,
Will you get up,
Will you get up,
Lazy Mary, will you get up,
Will you get up today?
No, no, Mother, I won't get up,
I won't get up,
I won't get up,
No, no, Mother, I won't get up,
I won't get up today!
Oh dear Mary, you must get up
You must get up
You must get up
Oh, dear Mary, you must get up
Yes, dear Mother, I will get up
I will get up
I will get up
Yes, dear Mother, I will get up.
I will get up today.
Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the kings’ horses,
And all the kings’ men,
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.
Mary had a little lamb
Mary had a little lamb,
Little lamb, little lamb,
Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow
And Everywhere that Mary went,
Mary went, Mary went,
Everywhere that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go
It followed her to school one day
School one day, school one day
It followed her to school one day
Which was against the rules.
It made the children laugh and play,
Laugh and play, laugh and play,
It made the children laugh and play
To see a lamb at school
And so the teacher turned it out
,Turned it out, turned it out,
And so the teacher turned it out,
But still it lingered near
And waited patiently,
Patiently, patiently,
And waited patiently
Till Mary did appear
"Why does the lamb love Mary so?"
Mary so? Mary so?
"Why does the lamb love Mary so?"
The eager children cry
"Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know."
The lamb, you know, The lamb, you know"
Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know."The teacher did reply
There it had a little lamb
There it had a little lamb

I'm a little teapot
I'm a little tea pot
Short and stout
Here's my handle
Here's my spout
When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout
Just tip me over and pour me out
I'm a clever tea pot
Yes, it's true
Here's an example of what I can do
I can change my handle to my spout
Just tip me over and pour me out
I'm a little tea pot
Short and stout
Here's my handle
Here's my spout
When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout
Just tip me over and pour me out

Announcement for week 2 (Sep. 20)
Dear my class,
I'm really glad to meet you today. I really admire your learning attitudes. Some of you take the course not for yourself, but for your beloved children. Some of you take the course because you want to learn English through different material. Hopefully, this course can be helpful to you in the way you expect.
Here are some announcements and notification for Week 2
1. Remember to give me the list of your group members through leaving a message here. For example, Group 1, 王小明 (Johnson), 97DE000; 王小美 (Mary), 97DE199...
2. For those who haven't "introduced your partner", please get yourself ready for next week. (Pair groups 7 to 15).
3. Please remember to adapt the vowel song according to the vowel (a, e, i, o, u) of your group.
Here is the lyric:
Mary had a red red duck,
Red, red duck,
Red, red duck,
Mary had a red red duck,
And all it said is "e."
4. Please familiarize yourself with the children song "Baa Baa Black Sheep." I will randomly pick up 2 groups to sing for the class--A short presentation. It would be great if you can find out the history about this song. Here are three versions of this song. (Your group can pick up any one from the three versions for the short presentation for Week 2.)
First version. It's the one that you learned today:
You can find its music from the following link: http://www.ilovewavs.com/ForKids/Nursery/KidsNurseryRhymes.htm
The following is the lyric:
Baa baa black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Three bags full.
One for my master,
And one for my dame.
One for the little boy who lives in the lane
Second version.
The music is slightly different, and so is the lyric.

Third version.

The lyric:
Baa Baa black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Three bags full.
One for my master,
And one for my dame.
But none for the little boy who cries in the lane.
